“It’s a new world!”

The first Monday morning of the Beast’s early retirement, he said, still in bed, “I think I’ll make a frittata for dinner tonight.”

I rubbed my eyes, wondering if it was all a dream. Normally I am the one waking up with thoughts of the meal that is still 10 hours away on the the brain. What would all this potential freed-up head space mean? What would I fill it with?

I didn’t want to get ahead of myself, or frighten the Beast with too much enthusiasm, or jinx it, so I simply nodded and said: “That sounds nice.”

Pax closets. And peace.

My four-day-long Nova Scotia holiday glow disappeared fast on my flight back to Toronto. There was an adult a few rows back who insisted on playing a video game on their tablet involving laughing and screaming characters and annoying music. They played the game at full volume–without headphones.

I would’ve offered them mine, if I’d remembered to bring them along.

Then there was a child seated across from me who insisted on asking her grandmother absurd questions: Why are we moving. Why are we moving now? How fast is this plane going? What time is it? Are we there yet? Are you awake?

Project home decor, plus pork chops

There has been a lot of home decor improvements going on in this house. Or, as we’ve been calling it,  project #homedecor.

We cleaned out the sunroom and moved in two new reading chairs that the Beast brought home from work.
